The
cost varies widely from Surgeon to Surgeon. If you are in a private health fund the price out of pocket is typically $2000 to $3000. There are some extras on top of this like xrays, pathology, dietitians etc. If you are not in a health fund the cost is typically $8000 to $12000 in a private hospital or about $5000 in a public hospital. The same extras apply. There are ongoing costs like fills (typically around $60 covered by Medicare), visits to dietitians, and tests. And of course the cost of replacing your clothes as you drop sizes. There is also a small tax deduction if you spend over a certain amount on medical expenses. Click here for details.
